Standard 11 covers drain odors in bathrooms and kitchens. The common cause is biofilm, grease, or a dry trap in rarely used bathrooms. The solution is preventive maintenance and correct hygiene.
KUGO protocol
- Water trap: for rarely used drains, add water to restore the odor barrier.
- Mechanical cleaning: remove the cover/grate and clear visible build-up (hair/slime).
- Neutral cleaning: clean the area and rinse.
- Residue control: rinse back to clean and dry visible parts.
- Ventilation: air out to help the area dry.
What we avoid
- No mixing chemicals or DIY “cocktails”.
- No relying on fragrances.
When diagnosis is required
- Persistent odor despite maintenance may indicate ventilation/plumbing issues.
