Standard 8: Pet Accidents — Professional Textile Protocol

Enzymatic treatment and moisture control tailored to premium upholstery and rugs.

Standard 8 covers pet stains and odors on textiles. The goal is to remove the source without soaking padding or damaging fibers.

Protocol (as soon as possible)

  1. Blot: no rubbing—absorb only with a clean cloth/paper.
  2. Controlled dilution: minimal clean water on a cloth, gentle pressing, then blot again.
  3. Enzymatic cleaner: apply per label and allow proper dwell time.
  4. Residue removal: light wipe/blot back to clean without deep wetting.
  5. Dry: ventilate/use a dehumidifier until fully dry.

What we avoid

  • No hot water (sets protein-based stains/odors).
  • No soaking (risks odor in padding and mold).
  • No masking with fragrances.

For high-value upholstery and wool/handmade rugs, we use a fiber-specific approach with a small-area test first. Send an inquiry.
